About Brightwood’s Vocational Nursing Program

Students can finish the vocational nursing (LVN) program of Brightwood College in just over a year. It is a cost-effective program that serves as an entry point for individuals who want to be part of the medical industry. As a result, some licensed vocational nurses obtain a higher level of education and training to advance their career. Many graduates end up taking one of the many LVN to RN programs available in Texas.

The LVN program is a combination of clinical exposure and classroom lectures. Some of the critical skills that the LVN program teaches are data collection, bedside nursing, wound care, administration of medication, and health education.

To ensure graduates obtain the necessary nursing skills, Brightwood College partnered with local clinics and hospitals to provide real-world training. Aspiring vocational nurses train under the direct supervision of a doctor, registered nurse, or other medical professionals.

Brightwood College at San Antonio offers one of the highest rated LVN programs in Texas. As a result, the school has obtained various recognitions and awards for their quality educational services.

What is Included in the Vocational Nursing Program?

How to Become a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)?

Brightwood College at San Antonio prepares students to pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) and obtain the license to practice their profession legally. By passing the NCLEX-PN, eligible graduates become a licensed vocational nurse.

The College will pay for the graduate exam fees. The Texas Board of Nursing requires every student to complete an approved VN program, pay the licensing fees, complete the Board of Nursing application, pay the NCLEX exam fee, and finally, pass the NCLEX-PN exam.

In addition to NCLEX-PN, graduates must pass the jurisprudence exam.

Brightwood at San Antonio is one of 93 accredited LVN programs in the state. However, it doesn’t guarantee that students will be able to pass the exam or become an LVN. The eligibility of students greatly depends on different factors such as work experience, education credentials, criminal background check results, medical examination, proof of immunizations, drug screening, and personal dedication.

What is the Average LVN Salary?

Most LVNs enjoy making a positive difference in the lives of other people. By providing healthcare services, LVNs are there for patients when they needed them the most. Aside from the altruistic feeling LVNs obtain from their profession, they are also financially rewarded for their service.

The average LVN salary is $43,170 per year. The salary of an LVN depends on his/her years of experience, credentials, training, place of employment, and employers.
