About Blinn College’s LVN program
The Blinn College Vocational Nursing Program is primarily given on the Brenham Campus. Their nursing program is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing and accredited by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. It is also accredited by the Southern Association of College and Schools.
BC’s vocational nurse program is designed to prepare students take the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX-PN) and the Nursing Jurisprudence Examination (NJE). After passing the NCLEX-PN, graduates are given the designation of Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).
The main focus of BC’s vocational nursing program is to help students become future competent LVNs who contribute to the welfare of patients. The LVN program at Blinn College provides both theoretical classes & laboratory lectures, as well as clinical exposure. The purpose of clinical rotations is to equip students with the necessary knowledge and practical skills needed to deliver quality healthcare services.

Requirements for Admission
All applicants must have complete immunizations which include:
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B
- Measles
- Mumps
- Rubella
- TDAP
- Influenza
- Meningococcal
Moreover, candidates will also be required to undergo criminal background checks, drug screening, and a physical examination. A college ready classification in Texas Success Initiative (TSI) is also required. Moreover, after completion of the information session, students must present a high school transcript and GED certificate or diploma.
What is the Application Process?
Step 1: participate in in-person or online information session (mandatory). Applicants must take the one-hour session with a completion score of 75% or higher. You may take the exam as many times as needed until you obtain the required result.
Step 2: Take the ATI TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) – the test will cover math, reading, English, and science. The TEAS exam may be taken on the Brenham campus. Students may also take the computer version of the TEAS.

What is the Course Content?
The vocational nursing program consists of three semesters, one in the Fall, Spring, and Summer. The course content includes vocational nursing concepts, growth and development, mental health and mental illness, gerontology, basic nursing skills, health sciences, pharmacology, Pediatrics, medical-surgical nursing, maternal-neonatal nursing, leadership and professional development, and more.

What Do I Need to Know About the Financial Aid Program?
Students may have financial difficulties and might want to obtain financial aid. Blinn College’s FAFSA school code for all campuses is 003549.
